Fast Gallery Layouts
Return to the Fast Gallery Documentation Index
To change the Fast Gallery layout manager, open "gallery.xml" (or
whichever XML file file you happen to be using) with a good text editor, like
Textpad. Locate the "layout"
parameter near the top fo the screen.

The red arrow in the image above is pointing to the option that you should adjust. For the remainder of this documentation page, to see "layout X", you will need to change this parameter, then re-save the XML file. For example, to change to layout 4, you would set: layout="4"
Ok, let's get started!
Layout 1
In this layout, the thumbnails are arrayed in a grid at the right side of the screen, the title appears at the top, and the image at the left. To move among the thumbnails, you must use the arrows above them.

Layout 2
This is identical to layout 1, except that the thumbnails appear on the left, instead of on the right.

Layout 3
In this layout, the title does not appear, and the thumbnails appear single-file along the right edge. Thus, this layout maximizes the available space for the primary image. If "smoothscroll" is enabled, the thumbnails will scroll automatically upon mouse-over.

Layout 4
This is identical to Layout 3, except that the thumbnails appear on the left instead of the right.

Layout 5
This is identical to layouts 3 and 4, except that the thumbnails appear above the primary image.

Layout 6
Also identical to layouts 3 - 5, except that the thumbnails appear below the primary image.

That's all! If you set a layout number higher than 6, then the system will default back to 1. Please be very careful about introducing XML editing errors, since such errors may prevent the gallery from loading.
Good luck!
Darren
