FlashChat Bot Tutorial - Basic Install

This installs the bot MySQL Database tables. You will still need to add and start a bot after FlashChat is running.

When you install FlashChat, one of the last install screens that you will see is the bot installation. The first bot screen allows you to choose which AIML files you wish to install. Generally, the more AIML files you install, the smarter your bot will be. The default (as shown below) is to install all the AIML files. We'll talk about AIML files more later on. The best choice is to click on Continue and install them all.

As you can see, you may also Skip the bot install. I do not recommend skipping the bot install unless you're 100% sure you'll never use this feature or if there's a MySQL bandwidth issue. Right now, if you skip the Bot, no database tables are created and that makes it very hard to add the Bot feature later on. You can install it and still not use it.

The installer will now start reading all the AIML files and populate the MySQL bot tables with data. This can take some time, be patient. As long as the browser progress bar is there, the installer is still running. On my installs, I've always seen an empty screen rather than seeing the various AIML files being loaded. This is not a problem, but can make you think it's locked up when it is not.

Once all the AIML files are loaded you'll see the screen below. Click "Continue".

As you can see above, it took over 2 minutes on my home PC (P4-3.5Gig). Over the net, it will take longer than that!

You are now done with the bot basic installation. Click "Continue" to finish the FlashChat install.
