Integration with Joomla v1.1

by Gene Wells ("Geno")

1. Create a folder inside the main joomla folder called chat.

For example, if you have the Joomla system installed in a sub-folder called "joomla", the path to FlashChat might be something like this: www.yoursite.com/joomla/chat

2. FTP the FlashChat files from the unzipped chat folder on your hard drive to the chat folder on you host, using binary mode. It's safest to upload one folder at a time, then double-check to ensure that all files have been properly uploaded. Some FTP clients tend to "skip" files when a very large number of files are being uploaded.

Keep your FTP program open, you'll need to CHMOD (change the read/write permissions of) certain files and folders.

3. Start the flashchat install.php program. Example: www.yoursite.com/joomla/chat/install.php

All options in Step 1 of the installer MUST say "Yes" to continue with the installation. If not, you may need to CHMOD them to 777, or make other corrective actions to your server environment. Make sure you click the little check box at the top to integrate FlashChat with a "CMS" (Content Management System).

Then, click continue.

4. Select Joomla v1.1 from the list. If it is not there, select Mambo 4.5.2 instead (or better - download the latest version of FlashChat from the TUFaT.com download area).

5. The remainder of the FlashChat Installation should be self explanatory.

6. Adding The FlashChat Link to Your Joomla Menu (do this after FlashChat is fully installed).
