Chat & Forum Administration

FlashChat

This document assumes that you have FlashChat installed and integrated with osDate. FlashChat should be in the "chat" sub-folder of your domain, like this:

Assuming that the install went well (fingers crossed!), you could access the chat admin panel by adding "/chat/admin" to the end of your osDate URL, as shown below. Of course, in this screenshot osDate was installed in the website root folder. If your osDate is installed in a sub-folder, then you would of course need to add the sub-folder name to this path.

You can create "moderators" for your chat by adding a non-super-admin using the osDate "Admin Management" tool, then setting the admin permissions so that the admin has access to "Chat" and "Chat Management". As of the writing of this document, non-super-admins in osDate have full-admin priviledges in FlashChat. This will be adjusted in later versions so that non-super-admins have only moderator chat priviledges.

An osDate moderator logged into FlashChat:

For chat-specific configuration, please check the FlashChat online documentation, as well as the dozens of PHP options internal to the chat, many of which are located in the /chat/inc/config.php file and /chat/inc/themes/.

phpBB / vBulletin

As of the writing of this document, osDate includes support for only phpBB. vBulletin integration is on the way, but there was no specific release date for it at the time of writing this document. The steps for administering vBulletin within osDate should be similar to those described below.

osDate does not actually have its own administration panel for phpBB. You should use phpBB's administration panel. To do this, access the phpBB index page, at www.your_domain.com/forum/index.php, then login using the super-admin login. At the bottom of your page, you should see an "Administration" link.

You may also access this page by clicking on the "Forum Management" link in the osDate admin panel, as shown here. When vBulletin is ultimately added, this link could redirect you (the administrator) to either the vBulletin or phpBB page, based on what you have integrated with osDate.

Integration is also planned for IPB (Invision Power Board), and probably one or two other popular bulletin boards.
