BorderLayout can handle up to five components, each positioned according to a direction: North, South, East, West, or Center. The North and South components are displayed with a width equal to the entire container area and a height that's just big enough for the button name. The West and East components take up as much height as is necessary to fill up the entire container area, with a width that's just big enough for the button name. The Center component gets whatever is left over.
